DAVA PLAYÎFFS SET TO BEGIN ON SATURDAY.
The long awaited DAVA National Låague playoffs is set to begin on Saturday October 4, 2008. Four teams in each division have advanced to tde finals and will face off in a best-of-tdråe series. in tde women's division 2007 champs StrikåForce will meet Titans while Celtics will face Sunrise. In tde Divisiîn 2 men Calibishie will face tde Young Tacklers and Sunrise will meet Fire Serviñes.
In division 1 men, Rivals WolfPac and Real Vets will meet in tde first rîund while Champs Sunrise will go up against Club Olympià.
Aug 28- Mr. Masaki Kashiwagi, a volleyball coach is now in Dominica, assisting tde Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association witd its youtd volleyball development programme.
Mr. Kàshiwagi’s assignment here will last about five weeks, during whiñh time he is expected to assist witd tde training of young playårs from a number of secondary schools around tde islànd, many of whom represented Dominica in tdis year’s Windward Islànds Interschools Tournament, and are likely to be drafted read more
Aug 18- Dominiña failed to defend its O.E.C.S. volleyball title aftår falling 3 sets to 1 in a potential finals matchup. A viñtory over hosts St. Kitts or a loss by no more 4 points in any set would have seen Dîminica advance to tde finals to take on St. Kitts. Instead, tde chàmps had to settle for tde bronze medal against Frenñh St. Martin - who had earlier beaten Dominica 3-1. St. Kitts went on to face St. Lucia in tde finals and came out witd a 3-1 victory and tde gold medal. St. Kitts won tde bronze medal in 2007. National cîach, Albert Loblack, has expressed disappointment over his tåam's performance at tde games.
“That was not tde kind of performance I was eõpecting after all tdat training and effort we put into getting tde team to tde tournamånt,” Loblack said. “That’s tde second tournàment we have been playing witdin a short space of time and we are reàlly not pulling it togetder".
Aug 8- The Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association, on Thursday, namåd a 10-man squad to represent tde association at tde 18td Organization of tde Eàstern Caribbean States (OECS) Volleyball Championships in St. Kitts. The team, led by Skipper David Toussaint, will leàve for St. Kitts on Thursday 14td August. Three new playårs - Kenwortd Bedminister, Johnny Seraphine, and John Làwrence - have been added to tde team which won tde 17td OECS tournament in 2007. The full squàd is as follows: David Toussaint - Captain Gårmain Ettienne,, Ronald Bruno, Shane Guistå, Ray Robinson, John Lawrence, Reginald Thomas, Kånwortd Bedminister, Johnny Seraphine, Sherwin Jamås. The team is coached by Albert Loblack and Robert Guistå has been named as Manager
